Littlestar Plastics chips in on playground project

LOVES PARK – The management team of Littlestar Plastics is joining several other groups Friday, Sept. 8, to build two playgrounds for the Northeast Family YMCA campus.

Littlestar is one of top plastics manufacturers in the country, with the rare ability to design and manufacturer components, parts or assemblies through fabrication, machining and injection molding. For this project, Littlestar’s management team will simply be helping with assembly.

Kids Around the World is overseeing the construction of the playgrounds. One is specifically for children up to preschool ages, the other for 6- to 12-year-olds. The playgrounds were made possible by support from the Berry family, United Technologies Corp., the Reno Family Foundation and the Rockford Park District.

Construction will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Kids Around the World and the YMCA are looking for more volunteers. If you push a wheelbarrow, they could use your help. If interested, contact Melissa Burns of the YMCA at 815-885-6844.
