Thank you to WREX-TV for helping us hype Startup Weekend Rockford.

“Entrepreneurs will create innovative businesses in national Startup Weekend”

Thinker is hosting Rockford’s Startup Weekend for the second time. The amount of time it takes to set up and recruit the entrepreneurs, coders and designers is fairly exhaustive. But it’s a necessary investment because if you don’t have a healthy entrepreneurial ecosystem you get left behind.

Alex spent 17 years at the Rockford (IL) Register Star as a reporter and the last 12 as the business editor. He researched and wrote about industries ranging from manufacturing, real estate and logistics to web development and retail. He gained valuable knowledge from thousands of interviews, including then Senator Barack Obama, on the issues entrepreneurs face from startup to multi-million dollar firms. He developed a regional network of connections in the business, nonprofit and governmental sectors. Alex was part of the Thinker team from 2016 - 2019 as communications manager before moving to be full time with Alex Gary Communications.
