Play list for entrepreneurs

Play list for entrepreneurs

Music styles vary widely, from alternative to anime to gospel to hip-hop to rock, with dozens of variations of each style.

Businesses and the entrepreneurs who launch them differ even more than music. So building a playlist of best songs for entrepreneurs or executives is a bit of a challenge. Some have tried. A Google search of best songs for entrepreneurs or best songs about business unearthed lists from Business News Daily, Quickbooks, BusinessPundit, Entrepreneur, BusinessInsider, Addicted2Success and SalesScreen.

The variety of selections is just as dizzying, ranging from “It’s a Wonderful World” by Louis Armstrong to “Mo’ Money, Mo’ Problems” by Notorious B.I.G. There are some commonalities. Several songs show up on three or more lists, meaning they inspire a wide variety of people for different reasons. Here at Thinker, we have music playing all day, but when someone is deep into a project, usually the headphones go on to shut out all distractions. If you’re that way and need some business inspiration, here is Thinker’s crack at a playlist for entrepreneurs:

“Let me tell you how it will be
There’s one for you, nineteen for me
‘Cause I’m the taxman, yeah, I’m the taxman”

“You get up every morning from your alarm clock’s warning
Take the 8:15 into the city
There’s a whistle up above and people pushin’, people shovin’
And the girls who try to look pretty
And if your train’s on time, you can get to work by nine
And start your slaving job to get your pay
If you ever get annoyed, look at me I’m self-employed
I love to work at nothing all day”

“Tumble outta bed and I stumble to the kitchen
Pour myself a cup of ambition
Yawn and stretch and try to come to life
Jump in the shower and the blood starts pumpin’
Out on the street the traffic starts jumpin’
With folks like me on the job from 9 to 5″

“Well if you told me you were drowning, I would not lend a hand
I’ve seen your face before my friend, but I don’t know if you know who I am
Well I was there and I saw what you did, I saw it with my own two eyes
So you can wipe off that grin, I know where you’ve been
It’s all been a pack of lies”

“Workin’ hard to get my fill
Everybody wants a thrill
Payin’ anything to roll the dice
Just one more time
Some will win
Some will lose
Some were born to sing the blues
Oh, the movie never ends
It goes on and on, and on, and on”

“Twenty-eight years have come and gone
And she’s seen a lot of tears
Of the ones who come in
They really seem to need her there
It’s a sacrifice working day to day
For little money just tips for pay
But it’s worth it all
To hear them say that they care”

“Look
If you had
One shot
Or one opportunity
To seize everything you ever wanted
In one moment
Would you capture
Or just let it slip?”

“I had a line on a brand new account
But now I can’t seem to find
Where I wrote that number down
I try to focus, I’m staring at the screen
Pretending like I know
What all these little flashing lights mean”

“Don’t wanna hear about it
Every single one’s got a story to tell
Everyone knows about it
From the Queen of England to the hounds of hell
And if I catch it comin’ back my way
I’m gonna serve it to you
And that ain’t what you want to hear
But that’s what I’ll do”

“Maybe a reason why all the doors are closed
So you could open one that leads you to the perfect road
Like a lightning bolt, your heart will glow
And when it’s time you’ll know”

“All I do is win, win, win no matter what
got money on my mind I can never get enough
and every time I step up in the building
everybody hands go up
and they stay there
and they say yeah
and they stay there
Up down, up down, up down
‘Cause all I do is win, win, win
and if you goin’ in put your hands in the air
make them stay there”

“I had a job but the boss man let me go
He said
I’m sorry but I won’t be needing your help no more
I said
Please mister boss man I need this job more than you know
But he gave me my last paycheck and he sent me on out the door”

“Yeah I would have a show like Oprah
I would be the host of everyday Christmas
Give Travie your wish list
I’d probably pull an Angelina and Brad Pitt
And adopt a bunch of babies that ain’t never had shit
Give away a few Mercedes like ‘Here lady have this’
And last but not least grant somebody their last wish
It’s been a couple months that I’ve been single so
You can call me Travie Claus minus the Ho Ho
Ha ha get it? I’d probably visit where Katrina hit
And damn sure do a lot more than FEMA did
Yeah, can’t forget about me, stupid
Everywhere I go, Imma have my own theme music”

“The bigger the bill, the harder you ball
Well I’m throwing mine, cause my money long
The quicker you here, the faster you go
That’s why where I come from the only thing we know is..
The bigger the bill, the harder you ball
Well I’m throwing mine, cause my money long
The quicker you here, the faster you go
That’s why where I come from the only thing we know is..
Work hard, play hard”

“Here come bad news talking this and that, yeah,
Well, give me all you got, and don’t hold it back, yeah,
Well, I should probably warn you I’ll be just fine, yeah,
No offense to you, don’t waste your time”

“I done kept it real from the jump
Living at my mama’s house we’d argue every mornin’,
I was trying to get it on my own
Working all night, traffic on the way home
And my uncle calling me like “Where ya at?
I gave you the keys told ya bring it right back”
Nigga, I just think it’s funny how it goes
Now I’m on the road, half a million for a show”
