Using the Christmas shopping craze for good

THINKER NEWS – Urban Farmgirl in Rockford, Illinois, is an interesting business. It sells vintage goods and survives and thrives opening its doors just twice a month to allow shoppers the chance to buy its treasures. Then Urban Farmgirl spends the rest of its time restocking for its next event.

In November, Urban Farmgirl is using one of its shopping events to do greater good. Tuesday morning at 9 a.m., it is selling exactly 100 tickets for $20 each for its Holiday Open House Preview Party. The ticket allows you to come in the store Nov. 25 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. to get first crack at its Christmas season offerings. The rest of the public then can come in on Nov. 26 for its regularly scheduled shopping events.

All proceeds from the preview party ticket sales go to the Remade Program of the Rockford Rescue Mission. The Rockford Rescue Mission has been helping homeless men, women and children have a safe place to stay and to get back on their feet since 1963. The Remade Program is specifically geared towards women and giving them an outlet for their talents. Women in the program meet weekly to make a variety of bracelets, vases and other crafts which then go on sale at the Rockford Rescue Mission Thrift Store.

The tickets go on sale exactly at 9 a.m. Central Time and should sell out in minutes so if you want to be a part of the effort, set the alarm on your watch.
